I have been
treating adults for emotional and substance abuse problems for
over twenty years. My approach is compassionate and comprehensive.
I believe in learning to understand the problem as my patient
sees it before presuming to offer another view. I also consider
that your state of biological and spiritual wellness must be inquired
into and appropriately factored into the initial assessment. Psychotherapy
should be tailored to the individual. Session frequency, length
and the pace of therapy itself should be discussed openly. I believe
the process of talking, learning, growing and feeling should be
as transparent as possible.
I emphasize
compassionate care, not managed care. The initial evalauation
focuses on presenting complaints, history of coping with same,
relevant history and life events, current work, relational, and
recreational activities. We explore recency of last health exam,
evidence of biological contribution toward symptoms, family history
of psychological problems and attitudes towards traditional vs.
alternative "healing" approaches. Treatment is focused,
humane and involves thinking and feeling; not blind trust. My
approach is comprehensive and first focuses on defining what is
most in need of attention.
